Metal Hyside Military Valve

We haven't had these in a while, but we're stocked up again. This replacement valve seems to fit some of the Riken military boots as well as the older Hysides, however if you are buying one for any raft / inflatable kayak other than a Hyside you need to check at least two measurements before ordering:

The first is the diameter described by the centers of the six little philips screws. From opposite screw to opposite screw, the measurement is exactly 1.73". If your valve has screw spacing that is different, it means the screws will not go in straight if you replace an existing valves with one of these from Hyside.

The second thing you should measure is the part of the valve that goes into the hole just below the flange (the flange is the part the six screws pass through). These Hyside valves are a bit bigger than some of the white nylon versions, and may not fit in your boot's opening. The Hyside is exactly 1.5" just below the flange. The last thing to mention is that the screw holes are countersunk very deeply on the Hyside valve. There are some older military valves - both pot metal and white nylon varieties - that have thicker flanges and holes that are not countersunk as much. This means that the screws you have now from the old valve could end up being a bit too long to cinch the Hyside valve down tight. If this happens you may need to hit the hardware store, and the search for these oddball little screws can be a challenge. $25 each
