Padded Cordura Rafter's Saddle Bag

For paddle rafters on day or multi-day trips, the strap-attached cordura Saddle Bag is proportioned to fit a standard 8" X 14 X 18" military rocket box, but of course you can put anything inside that you wish. The Saddle Bag is not waterproof, but is padded with closed cell foam and contoured to fit the thwart circumference. These work well with any thwart between about 10" and 19". The ends are gussetted so you can pop the side latches on a rocket box (to open the lid) without taking the rocket box out, handy if the box is loaded with heavy items. The padding is good in that if someone in the paddle crew happens to do a face plant into the Saddle Bag, they will at least have some small amount of cushioning to hit.

Back the the late 1980's and early 90's we had a local fellow in the Bay area who used to make something very similar to these, but this version is nicer in both shape and features, including a pair of large D-rings on top.
